National award for director Bala for 'Naan Kadavul'
Director Bala touched the hearts of his fans by the film 'Naan Kadavul'. Now he has received the national award for best direction from President Pratibha Patil for his film Naan Kadavul at the 56th National Film Awards ceremony held in New Delhi . The awards evening was dominated by Bollywood, with the industry receiving a whopping 13 awards in various categories. Gautam Menon’s Vaaranam Aayiram also received the best feature film in regional languages award.
Veteran cinematographer V K Murthy, was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his lifetime achievement in the field. The award also comprised of a cash price of Rs 10 lakh, a Swarna Kamal and a shawl. Murthy is also the first cinematographer to receive the award.
